Om Geoff Eales:
Pianist/composer Geoff Eales graduated with first class honours in music from Cardiff University in 1972. A year later he was awarded an M.Mus. In 1980, whilst engaged as the pianist with the BBC Radio Orchestra and Big Band, he obtained his Doctorate. For his Ph.D Geoff composed the epic “An American Symphony” and a setting of Dylan Thomas’ “In the Beginning” for Tenor, Horn and Piano. He also researched the music of Aaron Copland.

As well as having a love of classical music, Geoff is passionate about jazz. Widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists, he has released thirteen highly acclaimed albums to date: Mountains of Fire ( 1999 ), Red Letter Days ( 2001 ), Facing the Muse ( 2002 ), Synergy ( 2004 ), The Homecoming ( 2006 ), Jazz Piano Legends ( 2007 ), Epicentre ( 2007 ), Master of the Game ( 2009 ), Shifting Sands ( 2011 ), The Dancing Flute (2013), Free Flow (2013), Invocation (2014) and Transience (2016). All compositions from "The Dancing Flute" (Geoff's collaboration with flautist Andy Findon) are published by Astute Music.

Geoff has performed at many of the world’s leading jazz clubs including the Blue Note Clubs of Japan, New York’s Birdland, the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles, Louisville’s Jazz Factory and London’s Ronnie Scott’s. He has also graced the main stages of many of the major jazz festivals such as Belgrade, Zagreb, Cork and Brecon.
